Pivot Table options are greyed out

  • I have created a pivot table linked to a cube using MS Front Page 2002. Myself and one colleage can add/drop fields and check/ uncheck data filters as normal. No-one else can, the options are all greyed out - the table is static. In a prev version of FP ages ago I created html pages exactly the same with no worries. Now, creating a page on the same cube in the same folder with all the same perms doesn't work for anyone except me and one other. It's definitely something on our PCs as I have no joy on other PCs too but I can't pin down what it is. Very cheesed off. Help please?

  • Morty,

Do you know what version of PTS (Pivot Table Services) your client machines have? My understanding is that MSft changed their licencing so that a user can install PTS *without* having a MS Excel licence, note that this is PTSLite, not the full PTS product.

From a past experience with my own machine, when using PTS lite, I can consume an existing published report but cannot change any of the rows/columns/filters or measures. Is this similar to what you are experiencing?

You would have to check the MSft licencing doco, but my understanding is that if you have an Office licence (whether Excel is installed or not) you can load the full PTS.

    HTH,

  • Thanks very much for your suggestion but one of the people who has the problem actually has the full SQL Server dev install with Analysis Services both on SP3. This contains all the PT services so it can't be that. We are on the same network subnet too so I've ruled out any networky issue. Very frustrated! Any other ideas please?

  • Resolved it! We looked at the Office XP product id and all the PCs that had the problem had the same id. The PCs that worked were different. Re-installing the latest version of Office XP has resolved the problem.
