Does anyone have experience in the performance gained or lost when using a UNC instead of a drive letter in the path of the source file?

Nope...
What is the problem?
In DTS is better to use UNC path, specialty if you want to schedule as job later.
Make sure you have permission on the network.

Hi Rob,
I decided to use UNC when our network admins decided to disconnect mapped drives via login script. Saves a lot of frustation
Cheers,
Frank
