Job Error (Exit Code 3. The step failed)

    Hi everybody!

    I have a job that imports data from AS400 three times a day. From time to time the morning job is faling. (I could say 3% of the time). If I check the view job history --> show step details is displaying this message:

    ......

    ...OnStart: Copy Data from CP_RLS to [CP].[dbo].[Item_Release] Step

    DTSRun OnStart: Copy Data from CP_MPS ... Process Exit Code 3. The step failed.

    Does anybody has any idea? As I said most of the time this job runs fine without any problems.

    I would suggest to trace the network connection/activities between your SQL Server and AS/400 machines to see any network breakdown during the data movement.

    I checked the log on AS400, and it was recording the job sign on, but nothing else. In other words no error message on the AS400 side.
