check privileges of login youve just used

  • Hey all,

I'm testing a bunch of new logins, both SQL Sever and Windows authentication, that have been handed off to me.  Want to be able to login with QA and then see the permissions that login has on the server.

I can't remember/find how to check privileges for a login I'm using at the moment.  sp_helpuser isn't it.

    much appreciated

  • Check out xp_logininfo.  also BOL if you look this up has some other info xp_loginconfig, etc...

  • Very helpful thank you, and excellent info from one so young!  Now we know we really have to watch our backs Ms. Ahrens.  As always, my searching skills w/ BOL and Google need improving.

The next thing tho is finding this info when the login is not an admin and so does not have rights to execute xp_logininfo.

You helped me get the most import logins tested as requested, this next step is less urgent but now I'm really curious.
