Recreating jobs on server

  • OK guys and gals...help me out here!!  Situation:

DEMO Server crashes...IT gets things going....all jobs are lost.  In the sysjobs, sysjobhistory, sysjobschedules they are all still there but just not listed in the jobs directory.

I script the jobs from another server (live site)...try to run it on the DEMO server.  Says they already exist!!  and keeps barking about the category type (uncatagorized[local]).

Can I just delete them out of the system tables and try to run the script on that server????  What is the proper way to attack this?????

    Thank you!!!!!!!

  • I would never recomend deleting anything from the system tables.  The proper way to recover these jobs would be to restore the backup of the msdb database of the server that crashed.  It almost sounds like your server is partially recovered.

  • so if they are in the msdb database (which they are), how do I get to see them in the JOBS node under Managment/SQL Server Agent??????

    Thank you!!,

  • Have you restored the backup of MSDB before the crash?

  • Well, from the looks of things where I see the jobs in the system tables, I would say yes.  I cannot tell you that for sure, because it was the IT guys that did it and I haven't asked....but I will.....stay tuned!!

    Thank you!!,
