SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition

  • Hello All,

I have been taked to purchase an SQL Server 2005 for my department and I am not sure what version to get, I have looked on the Microsoft's comparison sheet (http://www.microsoft.com/sql/prodinfo/features/compare-features.mspx&nbsp, and I am a little confused with the second to the last row of the Business intelligence feature (SQL Server Integration Services Data Flow Integration)...

My question is, If I needed to perform data flow tasks, would I not be able to do that with the Standard Edition? I just need to be able to do some data extraction and manipulation to an extent.

    Please help. Thanks in advance.

  • I'm using the Standard Edition in production and use SSIS packages which all work. In fact I have not found anything on the Development that doesn't work on the Standard. I guess the feature you mention refers to complex data mining.

  • Thanks a lot guys, that helps a lot...I'm currently running the trial edition and it comes with everything, but it doesn't specifically indicate for each tool, which edition it's available in.

Now I know all I really need is the Standard.
