I am very new to this site and i have been going through the forums and i can say it is very helpful.
I have a query and if any one could be of help, it is highly appreciated.
I have Database Server with SQL SERVER 2005 Enterprise Edition and Windows Server 2003 SP2. I have CMIS installed on this server.
Dont know if it is a daft question but, Is there a way to check what version of ODBC is being used against the database.
With Windows Server 2003 Sp2, MDAC 2.8 Sp2 gets loaded. Since MDAC has got the ODBC Driver, MDAC 2.8 Sp2 uses ODBC Version 2000.86.1830.00.
With SQL Server 2005 , the SQL Native Client which also has the OLEDB and ODBC Driver . The SQL Native Client uses the version 2005.90.2047.00.
I did get these versions from the Drivers Tab in ODBC Data Source Administrator. This is from the Database Server.
I was not able to put a screen shot of it but this is what is says
Name Version Company
SQL Native Client 2005.90.2047.00 Microsoft
SQL Server 2000.86.1830.00 Microsoft
Now since there are 2 versions of ODBC Driver, which one would the CMIS database be using.?
My Clients have Vista Business Operating System and MDAC 2.8 Sp2 is not loaded by default.How could i install MDAC 2.8 SP2 on Windows Vista.and if so are there any problems?

When you create your ODBC connection (whether or not you create a User DSN, System DSN or a File DSN) to the CMIS system, you will chose either the SQL Native Client ODBC Driver or the SQL Server ODBC Driver during the configuration.

I believe that Vista shipped with MDAC 2.8 SP1. I am only finding references to being able to apply MDAC 2.8 SP2 on Windows 2003 Server systems with Windows 2003 Server SP1 applied to the operating system. I did not see a place for downloading an MDAC 2.0 SP2 for Vista.

I would encourage you to downloading the MDAC Component Checker.
I will be able to determine the MDAC version on any machine you install it on.
Also, if any of your clients are using Microsoft Office 2007, you will need to apply SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 to your SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition instance(s). SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 makes SQL Server 2005 "aware" of Microsoft Office 2007. The SQL Server version will show as 9.00.3042 after applying the Service Pack.

That is the minimum level I would patch SQL Server 2005 to, there are several "rollup" patches that I would recommend you check into.
