  SQL 2005. sa password is unknown and some genius deleted the windows groups with admin access.

  I swear I read somewhere a method where restarting in single user mode allowed the local box administrator account admin access to the sql server.

  Unfortunately I cannot remember where I read it or find it in my bookmarks. And I suspect I have missed some key part of the method.

  Anyone have any ideas?

  Bah I should just go with my feelings rather than trying to confirm my opinions.

  Restarting sql in single user mode does give local admin sa on sql (well on my sql 05 notebook anyhow)
