    There can be numerous reasons for a maintainance plan to fail depending on the type of plan you have. If you provide details from the error log, someone will definately have a look at it.

    Have a look at the SQL agent error log, this will give a better description of why the plan failed..

    Check if it is a .trn backup with recovery mode as simple.

    View the job history, which will give you some idea.

    The information you've provided is so trimmed that it's hard to provide some help. Can you take out the T-Sql code of the maintainence plan and run it on the query window. Also provide more details on which step it's failing. see the job's history and provide error details. It can be due to various reasons.
