Hi can anyone help
I have been thrown in at the deep end and am now looking after the companies SQL servers for both a systems administrator and a database administrator role.. I have been asked to setup a SQL Profiler account and have been told to give it sa rights… Can I not lower the security? We have an amazing bunch of meddlers here and to give them an sa account is not a good idea. What is the minimum security rights you need to give to SQL Profiler

For SQL 2000 it is SA unfortunately. SQL 2K5 doesn't require SA.

You always have the option of setting up a trace and dumping to a trace table. You can give those who don't have sa access rights to SELECT from that trace table.

Thanx Guys...
I will give the Trace Table A go.. Up till now i have just enabled an SA account for an Hour at a time and i keep changing the Password. i keep the password a complete jumble so they think its an automatic process
