SQL 2005 SP2 Fixed Version

  • All,

Could you please verify the correct @@version of the "Fixed" SQL Server 2005 SP2?

I have downloaded and installed SP2 from MS website onto a new server and it the version is 3042.

    Regards

    Carl

  • It should be Version: 9.00.3042 as specified under Quick details section on

  • The "corrected" SP2 can also be labeled 3050 or 3054 depending upon what version was installed and then patched.

I installed the original SP2 and then applied the fix issued immediately afterwards, and I get 3054. As in:

    Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.3054.00 (Intel X86)

    Mar 23 2007 16:28:52

    Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation.

There was a lot of confusion immediately post SP2 rollout. KB article 933508 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933508) was changing almost on a weekly basis.

Even the current document states that 3042 is the wrong version for the Maintenance Plan Tasks DLL.

Unfortunately, Microsoft kept the same version (3042) for both the "bad" and the "good" SP2. It all depends upon when you downloaded SP2. If you obtained SP2 recently, you should be OK.
