Using Execute Package Tasks

  • I am using Execute Package Tasks to call another DTS. The issue I am having is if a DTS fails that is called from the Execute Package Task I would expect the Execute Package Task to fail why doesn't it??

  • One reason is that the next step in the primary DTS package must be dependent 'on success' of the previous step (displays as green arrow, can be set from the 'Workflow' tab).

  • Check out "DTS Package Properties (Logging Tab)" in BOL, specifically the 'Fail package on first error' bit.
