sql Files and Very Good Result

    Dear Friends ..

    I was managing Backup and restore System of my client. his system use Transaction replication .

    After reading the doc. of Microsoft about backing up and restoring replication. u will find that u have to restore master db , msdb ,distribution db.... and so on

    I failed to restore master db as i get message "u try to restore master db from server with version different from this one"

    I tried to stop sql server and get all .ldf , mdf files of my server (old server)

    I overwrite the files and start server and get my OLD server ON MY new Server again,

    i send data using replication and i work fine...

    Is it logical ? and i there any contraints to restore my server in this manar ???

    We also have transactional replication and never had a problem when we needed to restore the master database. Are you shure that between the master backup and the restore, you didn't install any service pack or something int he server?

    I thing every thing is the same...

    and get the VERSION message....

    I tried to install sql versions i have , but i get the same message , and i tried this method , it works fine...
