Query Analyzer and ODBC Connections

    I have been asked if the Query Analyzer tool can connect to other database sources, ie Oracle, using an ODBC connection.  I don't think that is possible, but I am going to ask anyway, I have not been able to find anything that says it is possible.

    I do not think its possible. It was designed to be a query tool for SQL Server only.

    Good news, you can connect using linked server. Any ODBC-database can connect in SQL server as long as you create your DSN on the server.

    Go and find your linked server in the enterprise manager tab Security. It really works.
