Can someone explain the archtecture for SQL Server Service Manager for SQL Server 2000? I have System Adminsitrator role permissions on SQL Server 2000 that is running on a Win2K server (ServerA). From a different Win2K server (ServerB), I can user Enterprise Manager to stop and start the SQL Server services on ServerA. However, when using the SQL Server Service Manager on ServerB to stop/start SQL Server services on ServerA, I get an error. I am not an Administrator to the Win2K server, ServerA. Actually, I have very limited access to ServerA.

In order to start/stop services in server A, you have to be the member of local administrator group in that server.

I thought that might be the answer. Do you know of documentation I may reference that indicates this?
