  • Please do not cross post, you already have a thread running for this problem, you don't need to create another.

This problem has nothing to do with Notification Services Administration. Please check the forum you are posting to before clicking "Post New Topic"

  • Mr.Phill,

Before u reply to any post pls understand why the post is been posted here.

I dont understand why u replied like this.Is this is the way u should reply.

I was not getting the right answer for my problem so i thinked those posters who dont go to replication menu should see this and can help me.I know this problem has nothing to do with this and i better know this.

  • "I was not getting the right answer for my problem so i thinked those posters who dont go to replication menu should see this and can help me."

Your issue has to with setting up replication. I don't see how posting a message out of context can help you any better. The people that know and use replication will help as best they can in that forum. If you're not getting the right answer, then reply to the people that responded. There is no need to create another post.

Using the "Active Topics" link in the menu bar (http://qa.sqlservercentral.com/forums/messages.aspx?forumid=4&active=yes) will show all active posts, regardless of where they're posted.

The Forums home page (http://qa.sqlservercentral.com/forums/default.aspx) also shows the last poster.

"I know this problem has nothing to do with this and i better know this."

And you should know better than asking for help in a forum that has nothing to do with your problem.

  • Just because I wasn't contributing anything to the discussion, it's wrong to presume that I wasn't following the discussion.

I actually considered helping when you posted your first message, but due to the manner in which you respond to people offering to help, I delayed until I had assisted other more appreciative people. When I came back to your post I saw that Deni was already helping and I didn't think I could offer anything further at that stage.

This specific forum is titled "» Notification Services   » Administration ", explain what replication has to do with Notification Services and I'll concede that you posted in the right forum.

  • Phil seems like a pretty helpful guy ...  I know I wouldn't turn down his assistance.

Phils first post here was quite appropriate.  Posting about "TopicA" in a forum about "TopicB" doesn't really do anyone any good.  The people interested in "TopicB" will be annoyed to see unrelated posts in their forum, and you are unlikely to get much help there.  Cross-posting (posting the same question in multiple forums) leads to fragmented discussions.  Having 1 post, in the correct area, is most beneficial to everyone involved .....  You, and other forum members.

Don't take it personally, Phil's just trying to help keep the forums a bit more organized.

Also, putting something more descriptive than "pls help" in your title will benefit too. If you make your title specific, then people browsing the forums will be drawn to it if they are familiar with, or curious about the topic, and ignore it if they are not.

  • I agree with homebrew,  Phil was not out of line and was being helpfull. if everyone was to post messages in the wrong place - not only would he/she not get any help - but the integrity of the entire forum would be in jeopardy.   Phil and others have helped number of members on this site. We are all here to help each other out.

I am afraid - there are not going to be too many people on SSC, who will be assisting Raj anytime soon, if he continues with this attitude
