Moving Reporting Services, HELP!

    Hello guru's

    We are going to upgrade one of our servers, and it has Reporting services on it.  I have found several articles on this, and went over this, yet I have a problem. 

    Scenerio:

    Orig: Windows 2000 SP4 running SQL Server 2000 SP4 running Reporting Services SP2

    New Server: Windows 2003 SP1 running SQL Server 2000 SP4 running Reporting Services SP2

    for Scenerio B (Single Server install) with the Key File Backup.

     

    I get the following error:

    Reporting Services Error

    • The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'C.0.6.51'. The expected version is 'C.0.6.54'. To continue, update the version of the report server database and verify access rights. (rsInvalidReportServerDatabase) Get Online Help

    Microsoft Reporting Services

    This is not what I was expecting.  Is this because I went from W2k to W2k3?  Is there a way around this?

    PS  I forgot to mention that the SQL Server on the original box is enterprise, and the new box is standard...Also, that the RS is enterprise on the original, and standard on the new box.  Could these have anything to do with it?  can I put RS enterprise on a standard version of SQL?

    Are you sure you have all the Service Packs installed on the new server so it matches what you had installed on your old server?

    I checked this prior to trying to restore the existing backup file and keys, and they were the same, x.x.10xx, or whatever the number is for RS SP2.

    As best that I can tell, the only version difference I can see is that the OS's are different...2000->2003

    I believe somewhere when you were upgrading the guid had to have changed... if you are unable to recover the Keys then i would start a fresh install... good luck...

    Now, I have the keys saved off from the original...I did the "rskeymgmt -a -fc:\rsdbkey.txt -p<password> " to restore the keys...it went fairly quickly to "restarting IIS", is this what is supposed to do, or did the rskeymgmt piece fail?

    Where did u run the command prompt from... hopefully in the directory where rekeymgmt is in...

    Well, no...I initially ran the rskeymgmt from the default command prompt...and that appeared to work...it created the file...and the "reimport" was run basically the same way...both times they appeared to work.  Was that a bad assumption that they did then?

     

    This throws another wrinkle in the issue, as the original is now shut down to start copying...it will be turned back on at some point, but for now, it is down...
