  I am trying desparately to convince my IT team that replication of the OLTP system to a reporting server is the right method (vs log shipping).  I need an air-tight case and they poke holes in anything I say because I'm not really a sql server replication / log shipping expert. 

  However, I worked in Microsoft IT in Redmond for 6 years and I know this is a best practice, but I need documentation that proves it.  Can anyone help me with the right article/white paper/etc that will help me make my case.

  Situation is a large enterprise application that currently uses log shipping every four hours to one server for some of the reporting requirements and also there is also another set of stored procedures acting as an ETL tool that runs every 10 minutes to move data to yet a different server for other reporting purposes. 

  I am trying to make the push to have the OLTP system replicated to a reporting server and then use SSIS for the ETL to load a data warehouse.  Need documentation to prove my case.  Please help
