Problem accessing webages after installing 64 bit ASP

  • I have just installed SQL 2005 x64 on Win 2003 x64. To load SSRS I followed the Microsoft guidelines and set enable32bitappon64 off and installed ASP.NET 2.0 64bit before doing the install.

With the system configured this way I get the ASP.NET tab on IIS and under ISAPI filters I see the reference to the 64bit framework. However, I cannot access any local webpages using hostname, IP address or http://localhost, all result in 'IE cannot display this webpage'. I can briefly see the title of the actual webpage attempting to connect before the resulting cannot display page error (eg. 'page under construction' using localhost). I can't find any related errors in the IIS logs or event logs.

If I set enable32bitappon64 on and install ASP.NET 32bit then local webpages work correctly but of course accessing the 64bit SSRS fails. In this case the SSRS failure is logged as a system event.

Has anyone else had this issue when installing SQL 2005 64 bit?

    Thanks for any assistance!

    Paul.

  • I installed SP2 along with all Windows Update hotfixes. I can't see anything in the readme concerning Win 2003 or permissions although there is some details on UAC on Vista.

Is there something in there I've missed?

  • I thought UAC applied to Vista and 2008 Server?

On my Win 2003 system I'm running as a network administrator (and also have the same profile as local administrator).

In 64bit mode I could under it if was just the SSRS sites that failed and so it could be a folder permission issue but, as it is all local websites including http://localhost and that they are accessible in 32bit mode, I thought it may be related to the IIS 64bit application pools?
