Database Weekly Newsletter navigation

  • The links in the "In this issue" right hand menu need to point to the article, not to the paragraph in the newsletter.

When you use the link in the right hand menu, it jumps to the paragraph in the article and then you loose where you were in the newsletter. After you hit the link to the paragraph and read the paragraph, you end up having to go back to the top of the newsletter and reread from the top scrolling down to figure out where you left off reading.

It would be much more convenient if the links in the right hand menu linked to the actual article. Then you could open the link in another tab and your orginial browser tab retains your location in the newsletter.

Usually the title of the article in the right hand side menu is descriptive enough that I can determine if I want to go view the article. The paragraphs in the newsletter usually don't provide that much more of an informative description than did the title of the link.

  • Thanks for the feedback.

A lot of people have liked the TOC on the right, so I'm not sure we'll change it. A few things. If you click a link, you can always click "back" to jump back to the TOC. The links work like other hyperlinks.

Also, I've heard people just scan the newsletter, ignoring the TOC if they want.
