what is new in 2005 Vs 2000 and advantage

    I am currently developing a new system using SQL 2005. Some of the feature we are using include:

    1. MAX datatypes. In SQL 2000 nvarchar had a max of 4000 characters. MAX datatypes go upto 2gb

    2. Try / Catch in TSQL

    3. Create ws end points to allow apps to call SQL Server directly via SOAP

    4. Create stored procedures using C#

    Those are the ones we are actively using I know there is also a bunch of others. So far Beta 2 has been pretty stable and the new Management Studio is much better than the old QA and Enterprise Manager

    Holy s**t (sorry for my language, but that's the words I first say when I used SQL Server 2005 CTP)

     

    Do you want to know whats new in SQL 2005? If you are a newbie, just ignore the differences. I still asking what had M$ done to SQL Server. This is a brand new product. Just install it, and read Wha's New Section.

    Two main radical changes:

    1. SQL Server became more look like Oracle (a whole new schema properties, row num function etc)

    2. You need to be familiar with Visual Studio
