Hello,
I have curently configured and working a transactional replication subscription job on SQL Express 2005 and Windows XP Pro. Creating the subscription, setting the "Use Windows Synchronisation Manager" to enabled, creates a task in the Windows Synchronisation Manager in XP as expected.
I have tried to complete the same task on a Vista workstation, gone through the same steps, except it doesn't create a synchronisation task in Sync Center!
Anybody else had any experience in this or experienced similar problems?

Hi, May be you can help me what you have already figured. I have been trying to figure the pull merge replication on SQl express using windows sync manager. When I set up every thing, I see the pull replication task in sync manger and run it. It fails with not able to apply snapshot. I have checked all the permission all all levels and for test purpose all the permission hare granted for all users but still not working. How did you figure out the part to work this. Your help will be greatly appreciated!!!

I presume you ware trying to get your merge subscription working on XP Professional and not Vista?
Please can you post the exact error message you are getting.

I have now managed to fix this issue. This problem was fixed with SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services SP2.

Hi,
I'm having the same problem with vista x64: sql server 2008 express installed on laptop, when I install the merge replication database, there is no problem with sql server management studio, the database and subscription are created, but no sql server sync item appears in the sync center. It is like ssms doesn't create the item. What could be wrong.
Help appreciated. Urgent please.

I have the same or similar issue.
Setting up a pull replication on a vista client having installed and configured sql express 2008, pulling from a sql 2008 enterprise server.
In sync manager it lists sql express 2008, but no other option.
It wont syncronise, or create the database.
the files are available through windows explorer.
has any1 got a clue for me please
