Running Merge Replication- Replicating a replicated table that is transactional Replication

  • I am currently running Transactional replication from one database to another . I am then running merge replication on some of the replicated tables through web synchronization to a desktop application.

The problem I am having is that the transactional replication has stopped working and i am getting the following error.

Cannot drop the table 'X' because it is being used for replication.

I have tried changing the properties of what to do when the object exists but it always creates an error because the table is being used for replication.

    Can anybody help?

  • You have to remove it from replication.

  • Drop the subscribers, then drop the table.

  • Thanks for your suggestions. I was trying to get transactional replication to work with Merge replication but found out that is not possible. You can only use merge with merge.
