Adding addition articles on publisher

  • Hello room,

I setup transaction replication with local distributor on:

Sql 2000 (Publisher and local distributor database)

    Sql 2005 (Subscriber)

Both sql servers are located in remote location.

    Questions:

I have setup the transaction replication on the Site “A” with 15 articles.

Would it be possible to add additional 10 articles into my publisher without re-starting the initial snapshot?

    Thank you for your help.

    Regards,

    TJ

  • I doubt it is possible.

  • it is possible but they are not replicated to subscriber

I have tried that in my environment before (SQL 2005 SP2 on both Pub and Sub) and it works fine for me. A snapshot still needs to be created, but it only pushes to the subscriber data that the server expects to be different, ie. the new articles added.

I'm not sure if the same can be said for schema changes.

This seems to work via the GUI (ie. tick the article you want to add in the properties of the replication) as well as via a script.

  • that 10 articals are not replicate to subcriber.

that 10 articals are not replicate to subcriber.

what kind of articles are they?

    Tables?

    Views?

    Functions?

I was referring to tables when mentioning "it worked fine" in my earlier post
