Can SSIS packages be run on SQL Server 2000?

  • Hi there. I need to know please.. Is it possible to create a SSIS file package that imports data from a flat file into a SQL Server 2000 DB? And how can I execute the package without having to install SSIS on that server? Is it possible to copy the dtexec.exe utility or to run the ssis package with SQL 2000's dtsrun (I doubt it)?

    Thank you.

  • you can create a package on your SQL 2005 server to run the steps you are asking as a SSIS package can have a SQL 2000 database be the source or destination within the package.

You will not be able to run the SSIS package on the SQL 2000 server.
