Excel Connection Manager

    Is it a pre-requisite to have Microsoft Office installed on the Server where an SSIS Package is deployed, if an Excel Connection Manager is used ?

    I am not sure whether it's a prerequisite or not but I can use the excel connection managers on my server without any problems.

    No, it is not. The Excel Connection Manager is based on the so called "JET Engine", which is an old library, available only in 32bit mode.
