SQL Server 2008 R2 setup account

  • Which account do Microsoft recommend to launch setup for SQL Server 2008 R2?

It's best to use the local administrator account, any other domain users or it's the same?

    Please advise.

    Kind regards.

  • It is not recommended to run SQL Server from Local System Account. The best way is to create simple user account for SQL Server in AD and configure SQL Server to run from it. I recommend you to read the following article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143504(SQL.105).aspx

  • You need to be local admin to start the setup of sql server.

It won't let you go further without it.
