Linked server connectivity issues

    Hi ,

    I am trying to setup a linked server from sql server 2008 64-Bit to sql server 2005 SP3 32-Bit. I am unable to connect or browse objects from sql 2005 . I am get the following error.

    "heterogeneous queries and use of oledb providers are not supported in fibre mode . Microsoft SQLSERVER Error : 7432"

    I have switched off fibre mode on both the sides.

    I tried setting up a linked server from sql server 2008 64-Bit to sql server 2008 R2 64-Bit. Still issue exists I am getting the same error.

    Your help is much appreciated.

    If you are still receiving the same error message then that would imply that you are still running in fibre mode. I would suggest check the run value of lightweight pooling in sys.configurations.
