linked report

  • Is the only way to manage linked reports through the report server's manager or an rs script? I have searched plenty and it seems that the answer is no, at least, not within the BIDS.

  • Manage linked reports how? What do you want to do with them?

  • We have a "system reports" folder where an application can find a set of reports. Then, we have other folders that have different access permissions based on roles. Some of the reports in the "system reports" folders should be available to different roles, through their respective folder. I do not want to have copies of the same report spread about. I want to be able to document in my solution/projects, so to speak, where I have a link to a "system report." Currently I am having to add a text file to show the link within a project and a project that contains RS scripts to create the links.

I guess that there is no RDL, or reasonable fascimilie, to create a link to a report within BIDS.

I hope that my explanation makes sense.

  • It does sort of does make sense. And you're correct. There's no way I know of to use the BIDS solution to set up that information.

Our developers use a SQL table to store this information and access it via a .Net interface.
