Report Builder Issues

  • Peeps,

I have plenty of experience with SQL but am new to SSRS. Now I have struggled through using BIDS to build a model and deployed this on my own PC and can go to the folder and see it all there. Everything is ok on my personal laptop.

Now to the development PC. This is on a corporate network and I will be deploying to an instance of SSRS on a test server.

This is where the fun starts as I have no access rights to the SSRS box. So a folder is created for me by the administrator, I have content manager and report builder rights on this folder. I struggle to deploy my project to this folder. Eventually I get the admin to alter site settings and allow me to execute reports. Now the model is there, I can see the report builder button. When I click on the report builder button I am asked foe a domain UserID and password to access the report builder app (via the reporting services instance). At this point it does not matter what I type in we are not going anywhere and at worst I have to go to the help desk and get my login reset.

I need to be able to act as a business user and use report builder and save the reports to my folder.

Any suggestions on security settings to do this?

Any good web pages detailing SSRS 2005 report builder?

    Many Thanks.

  • You have to be:

    1. Site settings security - "system user"

    2. Security on folder - "publisher"

    That's for 2008.

FOr 2005 as far as a remember, you have to be local admin on IIS machine

  • Many thanks for that will look into site settings more.

Any good web pages for 2005 report builder out there anywhere? I want to see hoe good or basic it is.

    Cheers

    Mark
