Mirroring Data base issue

  • Hi Friends,

I did mirroring in 2 server without witness server. SERVER 'A' is principal & SERVER 'B' is mirror server.

Server 'A' is showing DB NAME(Prncipal, Disconnected) & server 'B' is showing DB NAME (Mirror, Restoring)

Could you any one explain me...........

    Thanks & Regards

  • Hi Sathish,

Can u explain clearly what u want to knw?I think u have done mirroring. If you look at the mirror server ie Server B, you can your server B is in restoring State(look in management Studio).I think your mirror server is in restoring State.

  • Hi Varun,

I want to know sarver 'A' (Principal, Disconnected) showing.

I need this meening, like server is down or what? & if server 'A' will down how do i know my server 'A' is down.

    Thanks & Regards

  • With mirroring, only one of both databases can be available at an instance at a single point in time.

So the other is awaiting for log entries, hence in "restoring" state.

Without a witness, you'll have to decide yourself which one is acitve.

If both have ben set in a non-restoring state, SQLMirroring cannot decide for you which one contains the data you want.
