Error on SQL Server installation checks

  • Hi All,

    Recently I am performing a SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise failover cluster installation on a pair of Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise.

    I am performing the installation from node 1 and during the Setup Support Rules checking, the Cluster Remote Access (node2) rule fails with the following error:

    Rule "Cluster Remote Access" failed

    The user running this setup must have sufficient privileges to access registry and service control manager on remote cluster node. Administrator privileges on the remote computer is required.

    Additional Info

    I am running the installation as a Domain Admin and the account is an Administrator on both nodes.

    The current servers already has a working SQL Server fail over instance running.

    Does anyone have any idea or details of what this rule is actually checking ?

    Thanks in advance !

    Regards,

    Al

  • Try this,

    --> Right Click on install file.

    --> Select Run As

    --> Give following user details.. eq: domain\user and password

    --> And Ok

    Hope this works....

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your suggestion. However it still does not work.

    It should be some permission issues which is causing this but I can't seem to find what privileges it requires since the account I am using for the installation is already part of the Administrators group on both machine.
