I am planning for MS SQL Server certification.. I am thinking about 'Exam 70-433: TS: Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Database Development'..What do you guys think? Is it a good starting point?

I think those certs are out.
I'd go with 2008 R2 certs at the least if not 2012 (assuming they are out now, or very close to be out).

R2 certs are not yet out - but coming soon. I wouldn't expect to see the exams for 2012 for a couple of years.
For the time being, go ahead with that exam.

If you have experience with SQL Server, I think it makes sense. If not, I'd spend a year or so working with the product, gaining experience, and then using the cert to prove knowledge.

No no, Sorry if I misled. The R2 exam numbers are different. And I really do not expect to see those exams becoming available for at least 6 months at this point.

The R2 exams are not out YET?
So they start the exams once the product is out of support or something :hehe:

No official word from Microsoft yet. The exams should be undergoing Beta Testing before long.

Please take the following statement with a grain of salt, but I've heard that Microsoft decided not proceed with certification on SQL Server 2008 R2. If you have a look at Microsoft SQL Server Certifiaction, it specifies that SQL Server 2012 certification is under development, but it does not mention certification on SQL Server 2008 R2.
