an error occurred during the pre-login handshake(provider:SSL Provider,error:0)

  • We have a .NET application encountered following error this morning:

A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the pre-login handshake(provider:SSL Provider,error:0-The client and server cannot communicate, becuase they don't possess a common algorithm)

After try one more 1 mins, it could work successfully. I have checked no SSL used and No forced encryption. Also couldn't see any error from Web server and DB Server. Can someone give advices? Thanks in advance.

  • I don't think this is an issue with your SQL Server, if you haven't already done it enable .net tracing and see of that gives more details

  • Thanks for the reply. Can you show me how to enable .NET tracing. Our application is not a Web application, it is a client application published with Citrix.

  • Think this is what you need http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ty48b824.aspx what are you using to publish application is Citrix? If its AppV and you have lots of applications ensure you have this deployed in 64bit.

  • Thanks, i will try later. Have a nice day!
