Migrating a 2 node cluster.

  • Hi all -

I have a physical 2-node cluster. MSSQL 2008R2(sp1) sitting on Windows 2008R2. We are preparing to migrate off of our existing C7000/EVA architecture and onto a UCS/VNX architecture. We have plans to want to move from physical to virtual. Because (as told by my network team) we don't currently have the right setup we cant entertain a P2V of sorts.

Was wondering if anyone has any experience in this area?

    Thanks!

    No P2V required.

Add 2 virtual nodes to the existing 2 node cluster and install any clustered instances across the new nodes. Once the instances are operational on the virtual nodes, uninstall from the physical nodes and evict them from the cluster.
