  • What is a LUN for SQL Databases? :w00t:

  • Nothing.

    A LUN is a SAN concept, not a database concept.

  • hmmmmm...... what is LUN? what is SAN? And no, I HAVE NOT GOOGLED yet. I know I should have to, but if the terms are used here, why not explain it? 😉

    LUN = Logical Unit Number

    SAN = Storage Area Network

    Honestly the reason they are not explained here is because somebody has already done a better job than I can do off the top of my head.

    ... but if the terms are used here, why not explain it? 😉

    Because we assume that people know the basic terminology or, if they don't, will go and look it up.

    To add to that.... If for no other reason than using a single source of information on the internet has been known to cause people some might grief. It's also a part of the implied job description for anyone that earns their living by working with computers. 😉

    ________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.
