  • How are you trying to take a backup?

    What's the exact errors?

Where did the .bak file come from?

  • thanks

I am making backup from SSMS -- dbtasks and the error says user hasno permission to perform this action

The restore file located on the same harddesk, but there is no mdf or ldf, I made restore from the same file before"what happend"

    Thanks

  • Then ask your DBA to give you permissions to take backups.

Don't understand about the restore. Backup files don't have mdfs and ldfs.

  • are you taking a backup or trying to restore? if you are restoring you should not use mdf or ldf, only use .bak files or 3rd party vendor backups. Can you tell me your steps in detail?
