Hi,
I would like to add my existing SQL Server databases to TFS.
I've been looking in internet and the only option to do this from SSMS is commercial product named 'Redgate SQL Source Control'. Version control also i can do creating database proyects with Visual Studio but the main problem that i'm seeing is that any user could alter any database that exits in database server accesing directly to sql server and Visual Studio database project would be different to already existing database in sql server; at the same time most of the developer are familiarized with de SSMS tool for develop database proyect and not with Visual Studio.
My question are: Is there any other option/plug in similar to 'SQL Source Control' that allows me to integrate/manage existing databases on the TFS server from SSMS? May be this funcionality is added to SSMS 2012?
Many thanks in advance.
How integrate existing database to TFS from SSMS?

Why not use Visual Studio 2010 for your SQL Server development projects source control?
In Visual Studio 2010 Team Suite Ultimate, you already have all projects template for SQL Server Database under "Database", in fact, SSMS 2012 is already integrated with Visual Studio 2010.

Hi Haining,
As i said in the previous post i know that i can use Visual Studio 2010 for your SQL Server development projects source control "but the main problem that i'm seeing is that any user could alter any database that exist in database server accesing directly to sql server and Visual Studio database project would be different to already existing database in sql server; at the same time most of the developer are familiarized with de SSMS tool for develop database proyect and not with Visual Studio".
My question is: How i can work with my database from SSMS with TFS as source control? (i need a functionality to open a database and check-in, check-out etc ... directly from SSMS; if i open source safe from visual studio i wold like to view all changes that i have done from SSMS, ie, i need a full integration between Visual Studio and SSMS).
Many thanks.

Could you try the Team Foundation Server MSSCCI Provider 2010 32-bit?

Yes, i try it.
I need link databases from SSMS with a Visual Studio Database Proyect existing in TFS. For that, exist any alternative to Redgate Source Control? I can do it from SSMS or not?
Thanks.

Yes, the Team Foundation Server MSSCCI Provider mentioned previously allows you to do this.
(Open an existing DB solution from TFS in SSMS).
There's no way to enforce changes to the db are made through that though - the databases can still be altered directly in SSMS unless you lock down the permissions.

As would be true in any project within any source control. After all one of the main purposes of a VCS is to disconnect the run-time from the versions under developmenty.

Your lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on my part...unless you're my manager...or a director and above...or a really loud-spoken end-user..All right - what was my emergency again?

Hi,
Just wondering is there support for SSMS 2014 to TFS via VS2015/2017 ? Seem to only be able to get SSMS 2014 via VS2013.
