I'm in my current job over 2 years as a database consultant and dba its feeling like its time to move on.
Im comfortable with the sql db engine and can do a DBA job with little ramp up period, pretty much hitting the ground running, but I think I'd like to give bi a go. I'm not so interested in the db engine anymore and would like a change.
I have limited SSIS, SSAS, Tabular/power pivot , reporting experience but would like to develop that, without taking a pay cut.
Ideally I'd get a DBA role with bi responsibilities, but its rare to get an ideal role.
So, is it a good idea to go for a job you can do quickly with little ramp up, or to go for something you would need some ramp up & training, but would be enthusiastic about?
More importantly, how do employers feel about such a candidate?
