What have you checked so far?
Have you had a chat with your Network admins?
Where is the error coming from?

A connection time-out error can also occur if a query takes too much time to complete. In SQL Server there is a default time-out setting for remote connection of 60 seconds (configurable), but that will be overruled by the connection setting.

I think the error is coming from a job interview 🙂
Need an answer? No, you need a question

I allways forget some posters ask questions for such reasons (interview, exam, school assignment). It's a shortcut and you are not able to really learn from it. If I had a question for such a reason I research it myself. That way I learn about techniques, pro's and con's, syntax, applicable situations, etc. The next time I can answer all kind of variations on the question with confidence.

Don't disagree.
If some one asks "I have an interview coming up and . . . . " I wouldn't mind as much.
In either case though, you need to learn / establish your own process for problem resolution.
