SSRS SCOM Alert: SSRS 2012: Other processes use too much memory

  • So I get this SCOM alert...

Last modified time: 9/27/2017 5:33:08 AM Alertdescription: Other processes can affect SSRS performance.

Total memory on the server: 7.9995002746582 GB SSRSWorkingSetMinimum: 4.79970016479492 GB SSRS WorkingSetMaximium: 7.9995002746582GB Memory consumed by SSRS: 0.350131988525391 GB (4.37692326400165%) Memoryconsumed by other processes: 3.22562408447266 GB (40.3228198477745%)

I believe the calculation is if the workingsetminimum + memory consumed by other process > total memory, then you will get that alert.

However my config file does not set workingsetminimum at all. SSRS is only using 300MB or so. Where is it getting the working set minimum value of 4.8GB?????

  • The fact that you haven't set it may be your answer, and thus SSRS is using the default. Why not try setting the value to a figure in your config instead?

I would, however, suggest that you use an environment with more that 8GB for your SSRS environment. That's not a lot to play with once you add other services/OS requirements in.

WorkingSetMinimum by default will be 60% of the WorkingSetMaximum
WorkingSetMaximum by default will be the available memory on the server when the service starts.
