Tyring to find some help, went from sql7 to sql2ksp3 and performance is way down. Machine crawls along. I did sp_updatestats and that helped but just slightly. I also have this new log file on my root called SQL that is growing rapidly. Can't delete it even with SQL not loaded says it is in use. Anyone have an idea about someplace to find some performance enhancements and how to deal with this SQL file..?
Thanks in advance

ODBC trace enabled maybe? I'd expect perf to be the same or better after running update stats. Tried a reboot to be sure you're clean?

Andy, System has been rebooted many many times. I am unsure as how to disable ODBC Trace or how to check if it is running..?
Thanks for the suggestions

Hi there
Sounds like it could be an ODBC log. You might this link useful:
If that doesn't help, my first step when investigating performance problems is to check memory usage. Try using to the Windows Performance monitor to check the sql server Buffer Cache Hit Ratio - Microsoft recommend that this should be running at at least 90%. If it is lower you may need more memory.
