  I got a new laptop at work with Windows XP. I am trying to install MSDE off of the SQL Server 2000 Disk, but I keep getting an "The Instance Name Specified is Invalid". This happens before I get any type of options screen. Any Help will be greatly appreciated since I will have to turn in my old laptop soon.

  Try running the Setup program from the top level of the CD directory.
