Issues calling a DTS package from a DTS package

    Using SQL Server 2000 SP4. I have a DTS package that executes stored procedures and then it executes another DTS package. The first DTS package hangs when trying to execute the other DTS package. I have manually executed the other DTS package successfully. So, why does the first DTS hang when trying to execute the second DTS?

    Check the permissions. If the differece between running and not running package is the person who executes it then there are server or database permissions. Check the identity the first package is using to run, it could be the agent proxy  account or whatever, see for details this article that possibly describes your case:
