Does a database shrink rebuild ALL indexes?

    Thanks.

  • Not that I am aware of. The shrinking of the database as far as I know, reduces the size of the files in the database. I am not aware of any rebuilding.

  • No, It doesn't rebuild any indexes.

  • Don't think so!

  • No, it doesn't . First use DBCC DBREINDEX or rebuild your indexes manually after then shrink your db

  • There are a comple of shirnk methods such and truncate free space and such but none do any index rebuilds and as Cengizu notes do your rebuilds befor shirnk as these will cause and size increase while the rebuild is done.
