Enterprise Manager - Import Wizard error

  • Hi All

For some reason, I'm unable to export of import tables using SQL 7's Import Wizard. When I attempt to select a source database I receive the following error:

Error source OLE DB Provider for SQL Server

[DBNETLIB] SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

context. Error during initialization of the provider

Running SQL 7 Enterprise SP 4

Any assistance would be much appreciated -- frankly I'm not sure where to start in tracking this one down.

    Regards.

    Rusty

  • What version is the source database?

    Cheers,

  • Hi Mark

I'm not sure what you mean by source database version -- It's a SQL 7 database. Select @@version shows:

    Microsoft SQL Server 7.00 - 7.00.1094 (Intel X86)

    May 29 2003 15:21:25

    Copyright (c) 1988-2002 Microsoft Corporation

Enterprise Edition on Windows NT 5.0 (Build 2195: Service Pack 4)

    Does this help?

  • Are the Source and Target databases sitting on the same Server & Instance ?

    .

  • Sorry, it was an incorrect assumption on my part. I thought you were trying to import to a SQL 7 server from some other (possibly non SQL 7) server.

So, you're importing SQL 7 to SQL 7? What are you specifying on the "Choose data source" panel?

  • The error ocurrs the moment I attempt to select a source from the drop down list.

  • Rather than using the drop down list, can you try typing in the same parameters and credentials that the server is registered under in Enterprise Manager?

  • Hi Mark

Reinstalled SQL Tools and all is OK now. Thanks for your help.
