Importing Flat files using SQL Server 2000

    Hi,

    I'm importing spreadsheet files as a DTS package, the process works fine unitl I try to import two files which are 26MB each.

    Obviously due to their large file size they take longer (about 2.5 hours) to import. I was wandering if anyone new any other methods or a better way to achieve this process?

    If you could give me any pointers or point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

    2.5 hours too much for a file of size 26MB ...I've been importing files with 30MB+ in just 2-3 minutes. I mainly use Transfer Data and Bulk Insert tasks in the DTS which is quite fast. Try using these...

    Hi Ramesh,

    I've imported the file as a text file (as it's in .csv format) and created a DTS package again. It now seems to work a treat and imports the large files in no time at all.
