can't delete a database...

  • SQL: sql server 2000 std

    OS: windows 2003 std

I did a restore of a 66 gig database to a test SQL server, it seemed to of completed the restore fine, however, when looking at the restored database its greyed out and says (Loading) next to the database name, when I try to delete the database it says "cannot delete database NAME its been used for replication" ?? But there is no replication set up!

I've stopped / started the SQL services and rebooted the server once.. but I still cant delete it,, HELP!!

    many thanks

  • If your database still has the status loading, you probably didn't select the recovery option when restoring the backup. Start antother restore and make sure you've select RECOVERY option.

The message about replication can be caused because the database had been replicated before and the metadata clean-up in the distribution database was not succesfull.First make sure that your database is accessible again. Then try to remove replication.
