Has anybody used "point-in-time' restore. I have tried through EM, but everytime I attempt it the check box for PIT is in active. I have not tried it through T-SQL, but thought if it does not work w/EM then it will not work w/T-SQL.
I have not tried it, but my thoughts are you can only do a PIT restore through Tansaction log backups only, not full backups????

You always have to have a full backup as a starting point. Otherwise, how can you restore the "changes" from the log?
Haven't used it. Andy?

Have done it several times in EM without a problem. No magic to it, just does what you'd do manually in TSQL. You'd have to have log backups for it to work. What exact problem are you having?

Hi, All
I have a related PIT question:
How do you use EM to restore a database up to a point in time to a different location? I know you can supposedly do it with the "restore database" option, how about "restore from device"? Anyone have done this before?
Thanks,
Yuan

Just tested with Pubs and it worked. Specify the new path on the second tab.
