SQL Server 2000 Version 8.00.194 (RTM) I'm assuming this is pre-service Pack 1 - what does the RTM indicate or stand for???

RTM stands for "Release To Manufacturing". You're right, it's the initial release of the product before any service packs have been released.

I had always heard "release to manufacturing" also. But I thought that doesn't really make sense. Release to marketing makes more sense. So, I decided to go do a search on Microsoft.com . I found a couple of references to "released-to-market (rtm)". AHA!!! I thought. Then in the very next link on the Microsoft Search Results, was a reference to "released-to-manufacturing (rtm)" . So, I guess even Microsoft doesn't know for sure what "rtm" really stands for!!!
